Christy Carlson Romano, the beloved former Disney star, is counting her blessings after a terrifying accident during her husband’s birthday celebration left her with a bullet fragment lodged near her eye. The 40-year-old actress, known for her roles in Even Stevens and Kim Possible, opened up about the ordeal in a raw and emotional Instagram video, reflecting on how quickly life can change.

“I got shot in the eye. It was not fun,” Romano said with a shaky laugh, sitting in her car the day after the incident. The accident occurred on February 7 while the family was clay pigeon shooting in Texas—a birthday gift for her husband, Brendan Rooney. Though visibly shaken, she reassured fans, “I’m safe now,” before detailing the severity of her injuries.
Romano explained that a stray bullet from another participant struck her in five places, including dangerously close to her right eye. Fragments remain embedded in her forehead and behind her eye, where doctors deemed removal too risky. “I’m lucky I can see normally right now,” she added, her voice tinged with emotion.

In her caption, she praised the first responders and medical team at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, calling them “superheroes.” But her deepest gratitude was reserved for Brendan, who “sprinted into action” to rush her to help. “He’s my rock,” she shared.
The mom of two didn’t hold back her vulnerability. “This is really bad tonight,” she admitted, gesturing to her swollen eye in the video. Yet her tone shifted to resilience: “I get to say I got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale. Hug your people—life can flip in a second.”

In a heartfelt follow-up post, Romano wrote, “All I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I saw my life flash before my eyes.” She urged followers to cherish their loved ones, adding, “I’m holding my daughters, husband, and family extra close.”
Brendan’s reply underscored their bond: “You’re the bravest woman I know. Thank God you’re here. I love you beyond words.”
Romano’s message resonates beyond the headlines—a reminder of fragility and the power of gratitude. As she heals, her story stands as a testament to resilience and the importance of treasuring every moment.
